Travel & Comfort
Being uncomfortable is the worst. It doesn’t matter if you’re on a plane, in a car, or on a bus. If you’re uncomfortable, your trip will seem to take longer, and you’ll end up in a horrible mood by the time you finally arrive.

Many people resign themselves to thinking travel has to be uncomfortable. This simply isn’t true. It’s just that everyone has different definitions of comfort, so there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. We know this, and will help you by finding the perfect combination of stretches, apparel, and travel accessories that makes you personally comfortable.
Start traveling comfortably today
There are 4 main areas to address when seeking comfortable travel arrangements: mindset, physical preparation, travel accessories, and travel apparel.
This is the most important one of all. If you go into a long trip dreading the travel and thinking about how uncomfortable it will be, then you’re going to have a long, uncomfortable trip no matter what.
Instead of focusing on the travel, focus on your destination. If you’re going on vacation, think about how lucky you are that you can travel so quickly and so easily. Picture that sandy beach or awesome architecture that awaits you, and the hours will fly by faster than ever. You can even use your travel time to finish up any last minute planning, confirm any bookings, and get your schedule in order.
The same mindset holds true for any other type of travel. Are you visiting family? Think about what you’ll all do when you get there, and get excited about seeing everyone!
Traveling for work? Focus on preparing that presentation, reviewing any details you need to memorize, or just enjoying your time spent outside of the office. I don’t know about you, I’d rather drive or fly around than sit in my cubicle any day of the week.
Your mindset is one of the few things that you have complete control over. So make traveling easier and more comfortable from the start. You’ll thank yourself when you’re daydreaming of your destination or planning the upcoming week instead of focusing on how little leg room you have, or how annoying your seatmate is being.
Many people overlook how much your physical state affects how comfortable you are during travel. If you’re getting ready for a long trip, go for a run before you leave! That way, you’ll be looking forward to sitting down for a few hours, instead of feeling cramped and restrained. Tiring yourself out is a great way of encouraging sleep, too, which can make long travel seem like teleportation instead.
One of the best ways to stay comfortable while traveling is by being prepared with the right stretches. Stretching keeps your muscles from getting sore, and helps prevent cramping, chafing, and many other travel issues. If you’re driving, take a break every hour or two and walk around for 15 minutes. If you’re flying, walk up and down the aisle when possible. Do some stationary lunges, stretch your calves, stretch your back. Stretching is the number one way to minimize physical discomfort when traveling.
Travel accessories are a fantastic way of getting as comfortable as possible on long trips. Put a travel pillow around your neck, a blanket on your legs, and a sleeping mask over your eyes, and you won’t even remember that you’re on a bumpy road or a cramped airplane.
A quality travel pillow can turn a ten hour trip from hell into an opportunity for some rest and relaxation.
You might think that all travel pillows are the same – fortunately, this isn’t true. There are travel pillows of varying quality, firmness, longevity, and ergonomic value, and finding the best travel pillow for you is an individualized process. Everyone has different body types and sleep preferences, and there are travel pillows that are tailored to every possible circumstance.

Why should you invest in a quality travel pillow?
Travel pillows are key in minimizing pain and discomfort while traveling.
Have you ever fallen asleep while traveling and woken up an hour later to a stiff neck and aching back? So have we. A quality travel pillow will get rid of this problem completely.
A good travel pillow will prevent you from nodding off in an unnatural position by keeping your head up and your neck straight. And since your back follows the direction of your neck, this will also keep your back in a neutral position, taking unnecessary strain off of your body. You’ll wake up feeling refreshed and energized, instead of cramped, achy, and fatigued.
Good travel pillows will last a lifetime.
Spending an extra few dollars on a quality travel pillow is really an investment in consistent future comfort. Don’t rely on cheap the cheap “pillows” handed out by airlines and on trains, and don’t subject yourself to the uncomfortable headrests of buses and cars any longer. Buying a quality travel pillow will guarantee your continued comfort every time you travel from here on out.
Quality travel pillows allow for an individualized resting experience.
Everyone sleeps differently. Some like to curl up, some like to sprawl out, and some don’t like to move much at all. Finding the best travel pillow for your personal sleep preferences is paramount to resting well on a long journey. There are numerous types of travel pillows, each with its pros and cons, and finding the one that’s right for you is a must.
To put it simply, if you care about your body and its well-being, you need a good travel pillow to rely on!
Other travel accessories
There are many, many other travel accessories that can minimize discomfort when traveling. This is where it gets a bit tricky, however, as it can be difficult to tell which ones actually work.

Much like travel accessories, wearing the right apparel while traveling can make or break a trip.
The key to comfortable travel is wearing clothing that breathes. You want lightweight fabrics like cotton and linen that allow airflow to your body. Moisture-wicking clothing is a great option as well, because it’s specifically designed to resist sweat.
Avoid stuffy fabrics that don’t breath, like polyester and denim. You’ll be sweating buckets before you know it, and you have no choice but to stew in your own filth until you reach your destination.
Shoes are another big one. Lightweight shoes with proper foot support are a must when traveling, as you’ll be wearing them for however long your trip is.
Think about what the temperature will be like as well. We’ve all been on those buses and airplanes that blast icy A/C for the entire trip. The key here is to be prepared. Always have a lightweight sweatshirt with you, and you’ll be able to adjust your layers as necessary.
